Rodney Densem Wines

The competition’s aim was to find the best display in independent retail and off-licences, an initative which the drinks business has been working on in conjunction with Discover the Origin. This generic campaign aims to stimulate sales and awareness of the products involved, which include Burgundy as well as wines and Ports from the Douro Valley.

Added Ingredients

Founded in 2002 by Jill Carver, Added Ingredients is an independent specialist in both food and wine for the town of Abingdon, Oxfordshire. Acting as both a deli and wine shop it sources products from around the world, from meats to cheeses to oils, teas and coffees and wine. The store's whole approach perfectly embraces the Discover the Origin's campaign.

The Discover the Origin Best Independent Retailer/Off-Licence Display competition was created to stimulate sales and awareness of the products involved in the campaign by inspiring smaller independent retailers to develop their own promotion display in strore, including wines from Burgundy and wines and Ports from the Duoro region.

Carver also saw it as the ideal chance to educate not just her customers but staff as well. "It was an opportunity to promote food and wine to our customers from the small producers we work with, it imporves the knowledge of the staff and it keeps the customers interested and coming back for more."

Covering both food and wine, Carver sats the competiition enthsed her staff and customers, and as a result of the campaign, the store will continue to promote the five products involved in Discover the Origin. She says she is greatly looking forward to her prize - a trip to the Douro Valley.

One of two branches of the independent wine shop and deli based in Aberdeen, which also runs two restaurants in Edinburgh. Founded in 1982 to fill a gap in the Scottish market for high-quality food and drinks.
